Abstract

In the principles of Shiite jurisprudence, the ruling is examined as one of the fundamental concepts, and its typology identifies and classifies different types of rulings that have a special place in the principles of jurisprudence. Different types of rulings have been presented in the books of jurisprudence in a scattered manner. With the aim of providing a conceptual framework for a better understanding of the types of religious rulings, this research raises the question of the nature and multiplicity of rulings in the principles of Shiite jurisprudence, and then analyzes and examines different types of rulings, including mandatory rulings, situational rulings, guiding rulings, Rumi rulings, founding rulings, signature rulings, primary rulings, and secondary rulings, and presents a relatively comprehensive and systematic view of the typology of rulings in the principles of Shiite jurisprudence. That is, the present research, relying on the sources categorized in the texts of Shiite principles, finds that the religious ruling in the intellectual system of the Imamiyya Usuli has a systematic diversity in terms of the origin of inference, logical structure, and jurisprudential functions. Given its nature, this research has used the inductive method and library citations in collecting information and has followed the descriptive analytical method in arguments and content analysis.
